Which way are you headed?

May 27, 2008

I was recently in Clinton ON visiting family.  We found this great little trail outside of town to go for a walk.  Part way through our walk we found this great little road sign that I had to share with you all.  Enjoy

New Designs

May 20, 2008

During the last couple of weeks I have designed a few new patterns and learned how to do reverse appliqué. It is a very nice technique and once you figure out how the basics it goes pretty quick. I think I will work on putting a tutorial together on it for you.

Here is sneak peak at some of the projects I am currently working on.

The sun is out and the flower beds are in desperate need of weeding so I will leave it at that for now and will be back shortly to update you more.

Camping

May 15, 2008

Well we have recently returned from a camping trip. We were up north of Wiarton at Cape Crocker. What a beautiful place to be. You can even get sits that are basically right on the lake! One of the great things about camping in mid May is that there are very few other people around. In the section we were in we were the only ones! Granted you must have a real love of camping to go that early in the season.

On one of the trails that they have in the park there is the really neat tree that has a river flowing out from under it. We jokingly called it the Tree of Life.

The Trilliums were in full bloom too. The forest floor was covered in whites and pinks.

One of the reasons we went camping on such sort notice was that my 17 year old kitten, Gizmo, went to the giant litter box in the sky and I had to get away from the house for a while. Who knew that the human-animal bond could be such a strong thing.

Flowers are Arranged

May 8, 2008

After painting the flowers onto the background fabric I proceeded to stitch my fabric flowers on top. Some of the flowers are just fabric while others are stitched onto a craft foam before being stitched to the background to add even more dimension to the arrangment.

Painted Flowers

May 5, 2008

Well my flower arrangement that I told you about previously is coming along nicely. I wanted to add some depth to the wall hanging so decided that I would paint some flowers onto the background fabric before attaching the appliqué flowers on top. I used some acrylic craft paint that I had here to paint the additional flowers. I am very happy with the way my iris has turned out, I had to use a reasonably thick layer to paint the fabric so that it would cover the background.

Flower Arranging

May 2, 2008

I am currently working on a fabric flower arrangement. Iris’ and Calla Lilies are two of my favorite flowers so I have made up a few of each and will soon have a pot ready to put them in and then I will need to find the perfect background.
