Well as I promised I have two new patterns to release, just for you!

We have just finished our third in our paper pieced pooches series.

A dog quilt pattern featuring a border collie!

Wouldn’t you just love to bring him home.

If you like appliqué you will love this puppy and kitten combo we have come up with.

They are both available in our catalog!

Fresh From the Dryer

August 24, 2008

I have just pulled my latest rag quilt from the dryer.

What a fuzzy experience that was 🙂

This particular rag quilt is actually a jacket with blues and butterflies. I love making rag quilts as they go together so quickly and yet look so wonderful.

Here is the back of the jacket, made up of strips of flannel, with a few pieces of cotton added in for a bit of variety.

This shot shows the front of the jacket and the sleeves.  Sticking with the butterfly theme in the fabric I have appliqued some butterflies onto the sleeves.  The are made of flannel so I clipped the edges the same as the jacket so they would blend in.

Updates to Blog

August 20, 2008

Hi All,

I just wanted to point out a couple of updates we have added to our blog.  We have added a feature quilters gallery to allow us to showcase the quilts you have made using our patterns so send us those photos!

We have also added our fall and winter class schedule.  If you are in the Grey, Bruce, Wellington county area of Ontario please have a look at our fall line up.

We are also working hard to release a couple of new patterns for you.  We have a number of lighthouses from across Canada in the works.  Plus a couple more designs for our Paper pieced Pooches series.  We already offer a Boxer dog and an Australian Shepherd and will soon be adding a Border Collie, Pug and Westie.

Check back soon for another update!

Going to Italy

August 11, 2008

I just wanted to share this quilt with you.  I was asked to make it for a thank you gift for someone, in Italy!

The specs for the quilt was green, brown and a log cabin design, so thats what I did.  I am quite taken by how it turned out.   To make the quilt show a touch of Canada the label I added was a red maple leaf, I stitched it on so you could see the stitching on the one corner block on the front too.

The quilt wasn’t made to fit on a bed this large, but I liked the look of it with the dark wood headboard.

The quilting on this quilt was a stitch in the ditch around the logs.

There is the maple leaf label i attached.

Here is what the label looks like on the front of the quilt!

I have named the quilt Canadian Cabins.

Teeswater Quilt Show

August 10, 2008

Hi All,

I spent part of this Saturday at the Quilt Show in Teeswater Ontario.  It was the preshow to the International Plowing Match.  I took a number of pictures and have created a page to showcase them.  Have a look – click the link in the menu to the right and enjoy!

More Room

August 5, 2008

I just had to share with you this nifty little thing that was made for me recently.

It is an extension table for my sewing machine.  Instead of only having that tiny little spot of work on with the rest of the fabric hanging off this end, this allows much more of the quilt to be the same height as the sewing machine and needle!

Its pretty amazing the neat things you can create from wood.  I also have another surprise waiting to show you, but it isn’t quite ready for a picture yet!
