Paper Piecing Perfection
Do you ever have trouble figuring out what size of fabric you need to cover a certain piece? We have found this technique works great to line the fabric up perfectly.
This is not a full lesson on how to paper piece, but it will aid in the process.
Start by placing your first fabric wrong side up underneath your template piece.
Place your second piece of fabric right side down on top of the template piece it needs to cover.
Lay a small piece of card stock (we like to use old business cards) on top of the second fabric and line it up with the drawn line you will be sewing. Pull the fabric back so that you can see the line.
Finger press or lightly iron the seam.
Change the position of fabric number two. Put it underneath fabric number one right sides together. Using your card stock line it up with the 1-2 sewing line and pull fabric back. Line it up with the crease you made in the previous step.
Lay fabric one back down and stitch on the line between the two pieces.
Fold your piece of and press seam. Cut away seam allowance (seen as the black right side of fabric) and you are finished!
